Forty-three years ago, or say about 1875 to 1880, the period of my studies there, the city had a population of which had grown to about in 1895. It is situated twenty miles southwest of Dresden, in the Erz gebirge (ore Range) on the Mi'mzbach near its conflu ence with the Mulde, and is the center of general ad ministration of the mining and metallurgical industries throughout Saxony.
