Excerpt from Human Behavior and Social Processes: An Interactionist Approach
Interactionist theory has had considerable impact on sociological research and thought, as the separate chapters of this volume will testify. Its in uence has extended to a number of psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and others. The in uence continues through the years. But the lack of systematic formulation and of self-consciousness renders the research contributions and ex tensions of the theory somewhat disparate; there is no adequate cumulation of theory and confirmation. One of the purposes of the present volume is to fill this gap.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a systematic summary of Symbolic Interaction Theory, a key theory in Social Psychology. The author presents the theory in a simplified, organized, and testable format. Assumptions, general propositions, and deductions drawn from the theory are clearly outlined, providing a clear framework for understanding the theory's implications. The author expands on existing psychological theory by grounding assumptions about human behavior in man's distinctive characteristics. The text begins by introducing the concept of symbolic interaction, emphasizing the importance of symbols and shared meanings in human behavior. Assumptions about role-taking, communication, learning, and the self are subsequently discussed, demonstrating the interconnectedness of these elements within the theory. The author concludes by highlighting the significance of symbolic interaction theory in understanding the complex nature of human behavior and social interaction. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 9781333730550_0
