Pudot hac opprohria. Such practifes, and the experience I had thereof, and the impollibility for any man in After-ages to ground a true Hillo ry, by relying on the Printed Pamphlets in our days, which palled the Pt'efs whillt it was without con trol, obliged me to all the pains and charge I have been at for many years together, to make a great Colleiiion; and whillt things were frelh in memo Ly, to feparate Truth from Fallhood things re al from things fictitious or imaginary. Whereof I {hall not at all repent, if I may but prove an or dinary Infirument to. Undeceive thole 'that come after us.
