Excerpt from Translating Type Hierarchies: Framework Analysis and a Proposal
Suppose that B adopts V1 in this case. Then Group A and 8 share the same view, V1. So the type T is known to both groups now and no translation is necessary. The scheme becomes an instance of the Identical Group Languages scheme as far as groups A and B are concerned. Now suppose B wants to create a type called Information Request as a child of Action Request. So 8 creates a view of its own.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the challenges of communication and exchange of electronic documents and data across groups of people. The author, a pioneer in the creation of Lens, a groundbreaking digital information management system, explores several models for creating a shared conceptual framework for organizing information and defining the common language that would allow for efficient and effective communication. Early chapters explore the difficulties in defining a universal language for exchanging these documents while later chapters introduce the concept of partially shared views as a means of solving this problem, proposing a composite approach that draws upon the best aspects of different basic schemes. Through its exploration of the interplay between expressive adequacy, consensus, and the propagation of changes, this book offers valuable insights into the ongoing challenge of digital communication and offers practical solutions for addressing these challenges in the real world.
