Excerpt from The Canadian Veterinary Record, Vol. 3: June, 1922
During the past seven or eight years the motor has invaded the province of the horse, to an extent that some have predicted the date is not far distant when the horse will be as extinct as the dodo. In this regard history repeats itself, because in looking back on the advent of the steam locomotive, getting on to two hundred years ago, it was said that the horse would disappear. Then when the electric trolley and bicycle came into general use, his obituaries were recited in prose and sung in rhythm all over the world. But notwithstanding, the horse has held ground, and to-day is gaining power everywhere.
