The following work of the late Thomas Falconer, Efq. Now fub mitted to the Public at the reque: of his Brother, Dr. Falconer, of Bath, by whom it was prefented to the Univerfity of Oxford, having been en tirely finiihed by the Author, and apparently written over for the Prefs, is, with one or two exceptions, faithfully publifhed from his manufcript. There are however fome few things, as will happen in the cafe of a poll humous work, which feem to want an apology; and others, in which the Editor, to whom the charge of the publication was committed by the De legates of the Oxford Prefs, thought it nece 'ary to make fome variation, judging the Author hime would have made the fame, upon revifing his work, or upon correcting it for the ptefs. With regard to the firft, the language is fometimes obfcure, the itatements are fometimes confufed, and the calculations not always minutely accurate. The Reader will nu derftand what is meant, by turning to p. 107 of the Prefatory Difcourfe, beginning with the laft line for where he fays, of the Kings of Ifrael, 14. Years and about 20 days 5 he has wholly omitted to {late the data.
