The author details that this instrument may be calibrated by direct currents, measured by standard shunts, a potentiometer, and a standard cell; the moving coil circuit of the electrodynamometer is connected to terminals of a shunt designed to carry alternating current. The larger shunts are submerged in an oil bath which is water cooled and stirred.
