We have already seen if thought is eternal, then there must be an eternal, thinking being, and beyond this we are unable to think - for thought reaches its utmost limits in the self-evident propositions, that whatever else God could make he could not make himself, for this would make him act before he existed; and whatever else thought may think, it can never think itself out of existence. Neither can we find the beginning of life. Ask the Bible for its origin in man, and we are told he breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.
