Excerpt from Observations Made With the Cookson Floating Zenith Telescope in the Years 1911-1918 at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, for the Determination of the Variation of Latitude and the Constant of Aberration: Under the Direction of Sir Frank Dyson, M.A., LL. D., F. R. S. Astronomer Royal
The adjustment for collimation error. Is made by means of the screws which adj ust the frame carrying the central wire relatively to the frame on the end plate. It is necessary to adjust both ends of the frame, so that the wire is not inclined to the meridian.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book offers a detailed account of observations made using the zenith telescope from 1911 to 1918 at the Cambridge University Observatory. The telescope was designed by Bryan Cookson to investigate the value of the aberration constant using the method devised by Professor Kiistner. The author has completed Cookson's work, presenting the results with a detailed discussion of both the instrument and observing programme. The book also contains an investigation into scale and its temperature variation, presenting a linear relationship between the two. This book will be of interest to scholars with interests in astronomy and the history of science.
