Excerpt from The Daily Paper, Vol. 1: October 4, 1893
No such good news is to hand from Brazil, where Admiral de Mello is preparing to bombard the city of Rio. The provinces are revolting against Admiral Peixoto, who, however, keeps his hold upon the capital, with an army of men. Each side telegraphs, as usual, that they are on the eve of success, but the Admiral with his fleet seems to have the best of it.
