Reseña del editor

Excerpt from Tad Lincoln's Father

But with all this satisfaction went one sor row. They had no daughter. We are not left in any doubt concerning their disappoint ment, for neither of them made any secret of the fact. Four noisy boys needed a sister, and both Mr. And Mrs. Lincoln were ready to pet and love a little girl.

The shyness which Lincoln felt in the pres ence of women left him when he met little girls. He admired them and liked them, and wished to have them about him. They were to him a happy reminder of what he had always wanted but never had possessed. And Mrs. Lincoln liked to have young girls about her. She was a bit conservative with regard to other women, but young girls were very dear to her.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book offers a unique and intimate glimpse into the life of Abraham Lincoln, not as the iconic President, but as a man seen through the eyes of a young girl. The author recounts her childhood experiences as a playmate of Lincolnââ â¢s sons, Willie and Tad, during the tumultuous years leading up to the Civil War. We see Lincoln in his moments of leisure, at home with his family, and gain insights into his personality beyond the public persona. The book provides a rich tapestry of daily life in the White House, capturing the social dynamics of Washington, D.C. at a time when the nation was on the brink of division. Through the authorââ â¢s personal observations, we understand how the Lincolns navigated a society deeply divided by the issue of slavery, and we witness the social and political anxieties that permeated the city. The book's intimate perspective on Lincoln's character and the family dynamics within the White House provides a nuanced understanding of this pivotal figure in American history.
