Excerpt from Der Prozeß
The author, Roderich Benedix, an industrious and pop ular German playwright, was born in Leipzig in 1811, and died in 187 3, after a wandering and versatile career in which he had been, by turns or together, actor, opera singer, dramatic author, theatrical manager, and editor of a literary journal. His complete dramatic works in twenty-seven small volumes were published at irregular intervals from 1846 to 1874, and a selection from them has since been reprinted in a cheap and popular edition, while forty-six of his little comedies and monologues have been collected in the two volumes of his Haus tbeater.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book is an early work by German playwright Roderich Benedix. It was published in 1846 and is one of a series of his comedies and monologues that satirised social conditions in Germany during the period of political reform and national unification. The play itself is set in a small town and centers around a lawsuit between two local farmers over a strip of land. Benedix uses the characters and their motivations to explore broader themes of justice, social convention, and the often absurd nature of human behavior. The language is highly colloquial and peppered with local dialect, adding to the play's realism and humor.
