Aug. 2c, 1860. IN April, 1859, an application was made by a party of the settlers, through the Colonial Department of Western Australia, for the assistance of a surveying vessel, then in those waters, to aid them in exploring that portion of the country lying between Shark Bay and the north-west coast, about Nicol Bay.
