Excerpt from Practical Communism, Work and Bread: An Address Delivered Before the Civic Forum in Carnegie Hall, New York City, March 8, 1908
I hope you have not come here to amuse yourselves or to admire a fine display of brilliant eloquence.
For I am not likely to satisfy you therein. It may even be that I shock you by saying unpleasant things in a foreign sort of English.
But I have come because I have something very serious to tell you which lays as a burden on my soul, and Emerson has said that when a man feels the burden of truth in his soul that truth will become eloquent by itself, though the man may stutter and stammer.
I confess that I, for one. Believe that when a man is on a great errand there is a guidance for him showing him the things he has to take note of. I felt that this time I shall tell you how.
I came here on board of the greatest and fastest ship known, traveling first class.
And we were a very swell party Indeed and had a good time, with eating and drinking and musical entertainment unless a big Atlantic swell put us off our feet.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the problems and injustices of modern society and presents a practical solution through the establishment of a new social order. Influenced by various intellectual and philosophical trends of the time, the author argues that the present system is unsustainable and that a more equitable distribution of wealth and resources is necessary. The author advocates for a form of communism where private property is replaced by communal ownership and where the means of production are controlled by the workers themselves. This system, the author argues, would eliminate the exploitation and inequality that plague capitalist societies and would allow for a more just and fulfilling life for all. The book delves into the challenges and complexities of implementing such a system, discussing the need for strong organization, leadership, and a commitment to the common good. It draws upon historical examples and the author's own personal experiences to illustrate the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches to social change. Ultimately, this book offers a compelling vision of a more just and equitable society and provides a roadmap for how to achieve it. It is a timely and thought-provoking work that will resonate with anyone concerned about the future of our world.
