Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the life of Thomas Dermody, an 18th-century Irish poet whose brilliance was tragically eclipsed by poverty, ill health, and addiction. The author meticulously traces Dermody's rise from humble beginnings to his early success as a child prodigy, only to witness his later descent into despair. Against the backdrop of a tumultuous era marked by revolution and war, the book explores the themes of patronage, mental health, and the destructive impact of alcohol on creative genius. Through a rich collection of Dermody's own writings, the author provides a window into the poet's troubled mind, revealing both his moments of inspiration and the depths of his despair. This book offers a poignant and cautionary tale about the fragile nature of artistic talent and the importance of recognizing and supporting those who possess it.
