The far greater part of infeéts are fo minute, as not to be dif'tinétly feen without the help of a micro fcope; and, no doubt, myriads elude our refearches by their ex treme minutenefs. They are par ticularly dif'tinguilhed from other animals, by their not h'aving bones. The analogous parts with which they are provided, are placed on the outfide of their bodies, and form a kind of coat of mail whereas, in other animals, the bones are always in the infide. In this particular circumftance, infoéts bear an aflinity to lhell-fifh; the {hell being, Without doubt, or dii'pute, the bone, or analogous to the bone ofother animals.
