Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book is a passionate defence of economic freedom and a critique of government intervention in financial markets. The author challenges the conventional wisdom of their time, arguing against restrictions on interest rates (usury laws) and advocating for the rights of borrowers and lenders to freely negotiate terms. Set against the backdrop of 19th-century debates on economic policy, the author's arguments resonate with timeless relevance. Delving into the intricacies of wealth creation, the author explores the dynamics of production, consumption, and exchange, highlighting the crucial role of individual initiative and innovation. Challenging the notion that government intervention is necessary to protect the poor or prevent recklessness, the author contends that such measures often hinder progress and stifle economic growth. This book's insightful analysis of economic principles and its impassioned defence of individual liberty offer a compelling perspective on the role of government in shaping economic prosperity. Ultimately, the book's enduring significance lies in its unwavering belief in the power of free markets and its call for economic policies that empower individuals to pursue their own financial well-being.
