Excerpt from Multiple Comparison Procedures Based on Gaps
The purpose of this paper is to propose several multiple comparison (mc) procedures based on gaps and to coxnpare their performance with some commonly used MC procedures. In order to avoid an extended philosophical discussion, we state now that we are taking a non - Bayesian and significance oriented approach to multiple comparisons. We tend to use MC procedures for data exploration, so we will emphasize experimentwise error rates.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book introduces four sequential statistical tests for identifying differences between means in experimental setups. These proposed tests first examine gaps between adjacent sample means, followed by threes, fours, and so on, up to the range. Two tests then reverse this procedure. All four are designed to control the experimentwise type I error rates. The author compares the proposed tests with existing procedures, demonstrating their effectiveness in controlling the type I error rate and providing improved power for a given error level. The book provides a theoretical foundation for the tests and includes tables for practical applications. Through its rigorous analysis and practical guidance, this book offers a valuable resource for researchers and practitioners seeking to make informed decisions based on experimental data.
