Durant tout le xviiie siecle, l'influence lullyste persiste, tenace, indéracinable et se prolonge même jusqu'au moment où Gluck prend possession de la scène française. Sans nul doute, pour les musiciens désireux d'innover, cette influence, fut une gêne, une entrave dont ils ne purent complètement s'affranchir.
