Elder J. P. French was born in Edgefield District, South Carolina, March 24th, 1812. His parents were poor, and his father dying when he was a small boy, himself and others were left to' the care of his mother. His early life was one of deep poverty, hardship and toil.
In early manhood we find, Bro. French. In the State of, Georgia, where he became acquainted with, and was married to Miss Mary Brown, who still survives him.
