Heister assigns the same origin both to scirrhus and cancer, viz., inspissation and coagulation of the juices. Le Dran imputes the same effect to obstruction of one or more glands, which he says produces a scirrhous tumour only, so long as the ?uids remain unaltered; but as these become vitiated the tumour degenerates into a cancer.
