This book outlines a plan of study in insect anatomy for university students. It is for those with a limited amount of time to study entomology but who desire to learn more about the anatomy of insects. The outline describes the external anatomy of a locust, the internal anatomy of a dobsonfly larva, the external anatomy of a beetle, a butterfly, the mouthparts of various insects, and the venation of insect wings. It was prepared by two professors with many years of experience teaching entomology at Cornell University and Leland Stanford Junior University. The plan they offer allows students to learn the more general features of the structure of insects and although it has been prepared especially for students who devote only a short time to entomology, it may serve as an introduction to a more extended study of the morphology of insects.
