This book is an anthology of historiographical sketches of five prominent American historians active in the colonial era who investigated and presented the rich mythology, cosmogony, history, progress, and decline of the powerful Native American nation known as the Iroquois Confederacy, also called the Five Nations. It not only delves into their perspectives but also examines their scholarly contributions to the study of Native American history and culture. The author sheds light on the lives and works of these historians, providing a deeper understanding of their motivations, methodologies, and the broader context in which their writings emerged.
