Excerpt from Catechism
School. We therefore desire to establish a Modern Rural School that will be suitable for almost any community in the Commonwealth. In this Model Rural School, it is proposed to conduct a school composed of rural children, with the differ ent grades just as they would be found in the ordinary Rural School. The purpose of this school is to offer a course of study that will meet the demands of the Rural Community. It will be taught by an expert teacher who knows the Rural Problems. The hundreds of rural teachers who attend the Normal annually will have an opportunity to observe the work done in this school, study its organization, and be required from time to time to take charge of the children in the school and instruct them, in the presence of an expert supervisor and instructor. This plan is considered by Educational Experts to be one of the most effective means of reaching and training the Rural Teacher.
