Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the almost forgotten history of female novelists during the Romantic Era. The author explores how the works of women writers were central to the emergent shape of Romanticism, and how these women influenced the genre. The book argues that while male writers of the era are frequently celebrated as architects of the Romantic movement, women such as Jane Austen and Ann Radcliffe were crucial to its development, contributing important themes that are often overlooked. Shining light on the work of notable female writers, and the challenges and barriers that they faced while writing during a time of social and literary upheaval, this book offers a timely reevaluation of established literary history and brings long-overlooked works to the reader's attention.
