Dans le but de participer à cette oeuvre j'ai compulsé d1nnombrables dossiers, recueilli maintes et maintes notes, feuilleté de nombreux registres, afin de reconstituer pour Mamers, avec des documents authentiques et sur des bases indiscutables, une histoire locale à une époque d'autant plus intéressante qu'elle a été souvent trop exaltée ou trop décriée, suivant le caprice des auteurs.
