So long as church courts leave their members free to vote or not, as they may think proper, the discussion ofthe question of allegiance to the constitution should produce no alienation of brotherly love. It belongs to those who cannot vote, to bear with their brethren who can, or secede. Those who do vote have no right to take ofi'ence at such as do not, so long as their own liberty remains untouched. Yet, there is a disposition in many of the voters to persecute non-voters, which is wrong, and a sad evidence of a bad cause.
