Críticas

"Timely, vibrant, and illuminating. Juliet Takes a Breath is the coming-of-age novel I desperately needed as a queer Latinx teen. This book will break your heart, but not before mending it with Juliet's infectious sense of hope."--Mark Oshiro, author of Anger is a Gift

"A fist-pumping intersectional feminist power anthem. Juliet Takes a Breath is a startling story full of powerful ideas about sexual, racial, and political identity. It will stay with you."--Britta Lundin, author of Ship It

"Gabby Rivera's genius lies in her ability to make you weep and laugh in the same paragraph. Juliet Takes a Breath is powerful AF."--Zoraida C?rdova, award-winning author of the Brooklyn Brujas series

"Vivid, loving, sexy, true, and exuberantly alive. Gabby Rivera is the voice that YA has long needed, and Juliet Takes a Breath is a breathtaking novel that speaks to every young woman in search of her authentic self."--Malinda Lo, critically acclaimed author of Ash and A Line in the Dark

"Raw. Powerful. Honest. Juliet Takes a Breath is a luminous journey of self-discovery. Through Juliet's awakening, Rivera gently challenges us to step out of the shadows and into the light, and reminds us that successful rebellion begins with loving yourself in all your infinite variety."--Samira Ahmed, New York Times best-selling author of Love, Hate & Other Filters and Internment

"I strongly encourage you to read Juliet Takes a Breath. It's quite dazzling, funny as hell, poignant, all the things. . . it's F***ing outstanding."--Roxane Gay, New York Times best-selling author of Hunger, Dangerous Women, and Bad Feminist

Reseña del editor

Meet Juliet Milagros Palante.
A self-proclaimed closeted Puerto Rican baby dyke from the Bronx. Only, she's not so closeted anymore after coming out to her family the evening before she flies to Portland, Oregon (of all places), to intern with her favorite feminist writer-an experience that Juliet is certain will change her world. However, coming out doesn't go so well, and, when she leaves home, Juliet's not so sure if her mother will ever speak to her again.
As she embarks on a summer full of explorations of race and identity, queer brown dance parties, and a motorcycle-riding librarian, Juliet will ultimately learn that feminism is whatever she decides it is, and only she can create the life she wants.
As praised by Roxane Gay, Juliet Takes a Breath is "quite dazzling, funny as hell, poignant, [and] F***ing outstanding." You'll fall in love with this coming-of-age story about a young woman's journey to find herself-to define herself-as she comes out to her family, herself, and the world.
