Excerpt from The Efficacy of Fungicides in the Control of Certain Genera of Plant-Pathogenic Fungi

From the reported data on disease control over the period 1942-1952, an evaluation was made of the comparative effectiveness of 17 types (33 formulations) of fungicides against 23 plant pathogenic species in four genera of fungi. Disease control was the sole criterion with no consideration given to phytotoxicity, undesirable residues, or cost. A formula was devel oped for calculating the control index for each fungicide. Four standards (zineb, ziram, fixed copper, and bordeaux mixtures) Were used as comparisons.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the complex relationship between fungicides and plant pathogens, particularly Alternaria, Cercospora, Colletotrichum, and Septoria. The author meticulously examines the efficacy of various fungicides, comparing their abilities to combat specific pathogens. The author skillfully interweaves individual species' responses to fungicides with broader insights into the potential for chemical control of plant pathogens. Delving into the nuances of fungicide specificity, the book sheds light on the intricate interactions between pathogens and their chemical adversaries. The author's comprehensive analysis of field tests yields valuable insights into the protective value of different fungicides. By uncovering patterns of effectiveness across diverse pathogens, this book provides a significant contribution to the understanding of disease control in plants.
