Excerpt from Development of a Procedure for Measuring the Noise of Paper Caps<br/><br/>In order to minimize effects due to acoustic reflections and to maximize consistency in position ing of microphones (with respect to the cap guns), an electro-mechanical apparatus was constructed to hold and trigger the commercial cap guns. This apparatus consisted of a horizontal pipe m long which was coated with sound absorptive material and attached to m high vertical stand. A sketch of this apparatus can be seen in Figure 1. The gun under test was cemented to a pipe coupling which was screwed to the horizontal arm. A solenoid was connected to a steel rod which in turn pulled the pistol trigger. The solenoid was activated by a relay which was driven by a 25 millisecond voltage pulse. The duration of the pulse was chosen to prevent full excursion of the solenoid, thus avoiding noise from the solenoid striking its frame.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a standardized method for measuring the noise created by paper caps in children's toy cap guns. After an extensive investigation into commercial models, the author offers an explanation of the mechanics at play with the caps and includes meticulously detailed engineering schematics for what they have determined to be the most effective standard model with which to measure the noise of paper caps. The manual then goes into detail about the accepted measurement practices and procedures to be followed when using the standard model and concludes with a recommended reporting format for presenting the results of measurements. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 9781390439618_0
