Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book probes the economic implications of a policy implemented in 1988 by the US Forest Service to conserve ecological values on timber lands in Oregon. The author examines sale data from the Blue River Ranger District to describe and quantify the policy's impact. He finds by looking at timber sales offered over two decades that shifting to management practices that prioritize structural retention has resulted in some costs to the Forest Service and timber purchasers. However, these costs do not appear to have impacted the number of bidders at timber sales nor reduced the total timber sold. Overall, this book provides a detailed summary of the early years of this policy's implementation and provides useful information and references for forest management professionals, academics, and policymakers who want to think about the full impact of forest management policies. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
