This book is excellent for beginner cooks. It explains terminology and types of utensils needed for some of the recipes in the book. It explains the different cuts of meat and spices and herbs that can be used in some of the recipes. My daughter does not cook. When I gave her the book and she started reading it and looking at the recipes and pictures, she got encouraged to try some of the recipes. I highly recommend this cookbook. CK-2
