Lyn Sharratt is the senior advisor of system and school improvement for the York Region District School Board. Prior to this present position, Sharratt was superintendent of curriculum and instructional services in the York Region District School Board, north of Toronto, Canada. She has taught in 3 other school districts as well as having been an administrator/associate professor at York University's preservice program; executive assistant of professional development with the Federation of Women Teachers' Association of Ontario; and director of curriculum at the Ontario Public Schools Boards' Association, working with elected trustees across the province of Ontario. She has written many articles and presented internationally on such topics as districtwide reform; increasing students' literacy achievement; aligned system and school improvement; assessment that drives classroom instruction; technology implementation, change, and the importance of leadership development in increasing student achievement. She is an associate at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto, where she received her doctorate in 1996.
