In 2006, Matt Peiken celebrated 20 years as a staff writer at daily newspapers, first in California and, since 1997, as an arts and features writer with the St. Paul Pioneer Press, in Minnesota. He has won writing awards from regional chapters of the Associated Press, Society of Professional Journalists and the California Newspaper Publishers Association. Among his comic credentials, Peiken graduated the Brave New Institute school of improvisation in Minneapolis, reached the semifinals of the Twin Cities Laff-Off standup comedy competition and won a car and several fabulous getaways on the now-defunct NBC game show Classic Concentration (Alex Trebek described him as kinda cute ).Some might suggest his diploma from Fresno State University is another comic credential.
