Do we really want a better society? If we do, why do so many of us only see an apocalypse as the answer? It's because, as a people, we are devoid of hope. Hopelessness spawns desperation, and acts of desperation are the result of this condition. We've been taught to blame ourselves for an existence that is undoubtedly caught in a vortex and spiraling out of control but how does the system that governs us escape accountability? We are taught to trust that our government is here for us and its actions are in the best interests of the people. Regardless of how many examples that don't support this philosophy that are thrown in our faces, we still continue to dangle from the thread of hope that things will be alright. We are a capitalist society, governed by greed, materialism and deceit. I'm suggesting that our government purposely creates a certain level of chaos and intentionally does nothing to solve our problems. We, unlike many overtly controlling forms of government, have been made to believe we are free and in control of our own thoughts. The truth is, for centuries we have been conditioned through conformatism, the systematic and continuous process of societal brainwashing in order to control a people. The government focuses on symptoms to give the illusion that problems are being addressed. Some of the symptoms have been around for so long; we accept them as problems that can be solved. They can't because they aren't. They're diversions. Problems are solved; symptoms are masked. It is time for a change. We need to conjure our faith, use what God gave us and search for different ways of thinking if we are to save our society. I am proposing that individuality is a good place to start.
