Inhaltsangabe

In this moving novel, Augustin uses the third person point of view to portray images and symbols of life and death, anxiety and peace, love and neglect, trust and fear, sharing and listening. She takes the reader through a range of emotions as a mystery surrounds her character, Verona. Verona's compassionate nature is tested by events out of her control. The story takes place over a twenty-four-hour period during which the characters are developed in such a way that they spring to life from the pages. The author's use of various figures of speech throughout the novel will grab and hold your interest. Readers will enjoy the mystery and suspense woven into its pages. They are invited to follow Verona from the quiet lakefronts of Ohio to the enchanting Caribbean, then through the rolling hills of Scotland to the billabong of Australia. "In Sound Awareness, Augustin encourages involvement in community service. She sees that as not only an opportunity to give back to the community, but also a way to reveal the caring side of the human spirit. Well done!" Professor (Ret.) Napoleon Bryant Xavier University
