Biografía del autor

Ron Moline has been the archivist at Frank Lloyd Wright's Unity Temple for the past several years. This book is a compilation and extension of articles written for The Beacon, the congregational newsletter, and offers a fascinating immersion into the life of a liberal religious congregation in the heartland of America, from its beginnings in the 19th century, into the 20th century. The story begins when Chicago was little more than a village, and traces the origins of the Oak Park congregation from the 2nd Universalist Church of Chicago, established in 1856, to the formation of Unity Church, in Oak Park, in 1871. We are witness to the struggles of the early congregation, its success under the ministry of the renowned woman preacher, Augusta Chapin, and the fateful destruction by fire of Unity Church in 1905. We share the trials and tribulations of the construction of Unity Temple-one of Frank Lloyd Wright's most revolutionary contributions to modern architecture. Along the way, we meet a variety of colorful individuals, engage in theological disputes, and mark the impact of the great currents of history on a people of faith-a faith grounded in reason, in the search for ultimate truths, and in the belief that humankind can grow into harmony with each other, and with the universe. Ron has lived with his family in Oak Park for over thirty years. He recently retired from the practice of psychiatry and psychoanalysis, and continues to be an active member of the Unity Temple congregation, as well as serving as a docent for the Unity Temple Restoration Foundation.
