Introduction to the Preparation of Organic Compounds is a book written by Emil Fischer and published in 1909. The book is a comprehensive guide to the preparation of organic compounds, covering a wide range of topics from basic principles to advanced techniques. Fischer, who was a German chemist and Nobel laureate, provides detailed instructions on the preparation of various organic compounds, including alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, acids, esters, and others. The book is divided into several chapters, each focusing on a specific topic. The first chapter provides an introduction to organic chemistry and the basic principles of organic reactions. The subsequent chapters cover the preparation of different types of organic compounds, starting with the simplest compounds and progressing to more complex ones. Throughout the book, Fischer provides detailed explanations of the chemical reactions involved in the preparation of each compound, along with practical tips and advice for achieving the best results. The book also includes numerous illustrations and diagrams to aid in understanding the chemical processes involved. Overall, Introduction to the Preparation of Organic Compounds is an essential resource for students and professionals in the field of organic chemistry. It provides a thorough and comprehensive guide to the preparation of organic compounds, and remains a valuable reference for chemists today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. The second part is intended chiefly for medicals and biologists who wish to acquaint themselves with the methods of organic chemistry. For previous practice they usually carry out preparations 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 12, 18, 23, 26, 29, 34, 35, 49, 54, 55, 56, 66 in the first part, and they usually require for both lots not more than one Semester. In order to prevent accidents, the students in this laboratory are made aware of the dangers of chemical work by means of detailed notices, and it seemed to me advisable to place these warnings at the beginning of this book. There is, in addition, at the end a small table giving the strengths of the most common solutions, the concentrations of which are chosen to be simple multiples of the normal strength. Their use has proved very convenient owing to the simplification of calculations which it effects.
