Inhaltsangabe

The Silvae of Statius is a collection of poems written by the Roman poet Publius Papinius Statius. Originally published in the first century AD, this edition was translated into English by D. A. Slater and published in 1908. The collection consists of thirty-two poems, each celebrating a different person, place, or event. The subjects range from the beauty of nature to the grandeur of Rome, and the poems are written in a variety of styles, including elegiac couplets, hexameters, and hendecasyllables. The Silvae of Statius is considered to be one of the most important works of Latin poetry from the Imperial period, and this translation offers modern readers a chance to experience the beauty and complexity of Statius's verse. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
