John Adams (1735-1826) was one of the principal architects of American independence and served as the second President of the United States from 1797 to 1801. A lawyer, diplomat, and political thinker, Adams played a key role in the Continental Congress, helped negotiate the Treaty of Paris ending the Revolutionary War, and later served as Vice President under George Washington.
