This book, Hadre, the Evolution of Bioclimatic Architecture, is a product of thirty-year, more or less intensive work of the author. The author started with drawings and aquarelles of certain motifs (student work), through sketches from the site (result of his professional curiousity) and research of broader and narrower natural and social context, when he realised that publishing of the collected material could be of scientific significance, both in architecture and other disciplines concerning man. The author has photographed all structures, from 1978 until today; for buildings that were devasted before 1978, the author provided his readers with old photographs and people – informants who, together with Hadre’s citizens, gave information concerning the construction site, owners, craftsmen, materials and building technology. Graphic background, on which locations of the buildings are marked, is used from the cadastral register, and in a wider context maps of the Military Geographic Institute of Belgrade, map scale of 1:25000, and the Internet.Overall view of this monograph shows that it deals with the bioclimatic architecture. However, its content can direct a reader towards other searches concerning the nature of man and his communities. While writing the chapter Man , i.e. while trying to discover the roots of the Hadrovic family, the author has entered a real maze of information, and in order to avoid deviation form the basic subject matter, he provided readers with footnotes so as to allow them to find possible directions in searching for the ethnogenesis of Hadre. In fact, surname Hadrovic is almost planetary spread. Having in mind that the base of the surname is Hadar (surname origin), its manifestation becomes even more frequent and more complicated. The author is happy to say that the period of 30 years of his personal relaxation in Hadre is included into this monograph, which will, indubitably, serve as a kind of encouragement for many other benevolent endeavours.
