Inhaltsangabe

The hardest, gamest little dog in Victorian England - bred to go down a hole after a fox and come out again. The Smooth Fox Terrier - A Complete Anthology of the Dog collects breed chapters from the rare kennel literature of 1897 to 1935, among them H. W. Huntington's My Dog and I (1897), James Watson's The Dog Book (1906) and Walter Hutchinson's Hutchinson's Dog Encyclopaedia (1935). They describe a terrier bred to run with the foxhound packs and bolt its quarry from the earth, and then, within a generation, to dominate the show bench as thoroughly as it had the hunting field. Points, coat, temperament, working character, the great kennels and the pedigrees of the leading winners are all here, with the original photographs reproduced throughout. This edition features:Breed chapters from the rare kennel literature of 1897 to 1935 The working terrier and the show terrier, described side by side by contemporaries Points, coat and temperament, with the pedigrees of the great winners The original photographs of the leading dogs of the era, reproduced throughout
