Inhaltsangabe

It might seem like an unlikely combination, but, historically, the theme of beer is intrinsic to some ecclesiastical aspects and can be most obviously observed in christian hymns. Compiled by an expert in the field, this antique text constitutes a detailed treatise on this subject, isolating and analysing ale-based references in the historical notes and hymns of the christian church. An interesting text sure to appeal to those with a keen interest in the history of alcohol in the church, 'Church Ales and Observances' is a worthy read and constitutes an interesting addition to collections of ecclesiastical literature. Many old texts such as this are increasingly hard to come by and expensive, and it is our aim to make such texts more accessible for all those interested. We are proud to republish this antique text now complete with a new introduction on the subject.
