Dr. Eggers has 20 years experience in applied psychological research, developing and delivering executive development programs. John is the founder and CEO of Institute for Self Recovery based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Over his career Dr. Eggers has worked with over 500 CEO's and their direct reports world wide. Clients have included: General Dynamics, IBM, UPS, CalTex, AT&T, W.L. Gore & Associates, Chiron Pharmaceuticals, London Life, TD Bank, InSystems Technology, OASIS, Castek Software, Saturn Electronics and Engineering, Sealand. Before founding ISR, John was an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario. At Ivey, John designed and directed, Leading Entrepreneurial Organizations (LEO), a leadership development program designed specifically for Entrepreneurial Founders and CEO's. This program was chosen by the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) in Asia, Canada and the United States as their official leadership development program. Dr Eggers was also the cofounder of Ivey's Hong Kong campus and the Director of Executive Education in Asia. Previous to this John was the Program and Research Manager for Entrepreneurial Programs at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) in San Diego, CA. At CCL (in association with the Kauffman Foundation). John and his team completed the first national study of Entrepreneurial CEO's, their management teams and their company cultures identifying the key factors that lead to organizational growth. This study was identified as the "Seminal Work" in entrepreneurship by former CCL CEO, David DeVries, Ph.D. The American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) called the study, "The first to link leadership to entrepreneurship." John also has significant business experience having founded several firms. The largest of these was Sports Dynamics Inc., the original worldwide distributor for Oakley Sunglasses. John ran sales and marketing for Oakley Sunglasses and goggles worldwide starting with a first sale of $78. From there he drove company growth from 60th to 3rd in market share in three years. Dr. Eggers lives in Santa Rosa, California, nestled in the beautiful Sonoma County Wine County with his wife and three children. As a road cycling fanatic, you will find him most weekends on the back-roads riding where the tourist buses don't go.
