In the Caribbean, using parables were a part of every day life. My grandparents were well versed in the local parables. It seems at times I can still hear them saying to me, "Every day bucket goes to well one day the bottom will drop out." meaning "Those who takes risky chances will eventually pay the price." or "Walk good" meaning "Have a safe journey." Speaking parables in the Caribbean is done with a blend of two or more dialects between the remnants of African dialects, Patois, Creole and the prominent Spanish and French dominated by English. The grammar in these parables might seem to be somewhat off; an adjustment of the Caribbean dialect was made to accommodate all cultures. I was curious to find information on parables but after several hours of search the only information available were discussion on the sixty six parables of Jesus. So far I have no luck in finding anyone who actually has written any parables. I hope these parables can stand the test of time as Jesus' did.

I was born in Jamaica in February 1947. I migrated to New York in 1969. My first job was in the Bronx as a welder. I then moved to Philadelphia in 1971 and continued welding. In 1974, I gave up welding and did roofing until 1978. After roofing, I went back to welding and machining until 1986. Since 1986, I have been a home improvement contractor. After 40 years of working in the United States, I missed only two weeks of work, I was between jobs. I got married in 1975 to Patricia. We have a son, 34 and daughter, 32. Some of my hobbies are philatelic (stamp collecting), astronomy, travel and writing short stories; none are published yet.
