"You might as well give in," Shehum said, his deep, quiet voice even softer and more stolidly calm than usual. "He's in one of those moods." He stifled another yawn. "Although I don't know why it can't wait 'til dawn, at least." "I'll tell you," Mikiah grinned, and beckoned Shehum closer, leaning in to whisper so only they could hear him. "We're going to steal a wife for king Ashoram." They stared at him for a moment in shocked silence, their eyes suddenly wide rather than half-shut with sleep. A slow grin stole over Eliah's face. "Lamoni's daughter?" he whispered, then went off into a peal of silent laughter when Mikiah nodded. "Just let me get my pack!" Eliah disappeared from the window on silent feet, still snickering, but Shehum was frowning thoughtfully, chewing on his lower lip. "That's not going to be easy, Mikiah," he said, studying the confident tilt of Mikiah's head. "You have a plan?" Mikiah smiled. "I always have a plan."
