Dr. James Z. Liu is a trained physician specializing in prevention and epidemiology of infectious diseases, and a doctor of philosophy (PhD) in human nutrition. He has been a medical research scientist for thirty years, working in both academic institutions and pharmaceutical companies. During his early academic career, Dr. Liu published thirty-two peer-reviewed medical research articles and received more than twenty medical research awards from the central government, national professional societies, and academia. While working for the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Liu authored eleven US patents, created and developed a number of new healthcare products. He has led multiple functional teams to conduct clinical trials for a number of top pharmaceutical companies in the last fifteen years. Dr. Liu's main interest is in developing novel methods and practical approaches to prevent and treat these common infectious diseases, especially the common cold.
