While Larry G. Patten's career includes over forty years serving in executive, administration, and management positions in a broad range of fields including technology, education, government, as well as commercial and public broadcasting, he is no stranger to owning and operating small businesses. At the age of sixteen he started a custom audio recording company. The company grew to become one of the most successful customer recording companies in Iowa. In the sixties, the company became the largest custom phonograph record company in Iowa when he franchised with Century Records. In 1985 he started his own consulting company and was asked by the General Assembly of the State of Iowa to design and develop the technical concept and legislation for the Iowa Communications Network, which is now built and serving Iowans. In 2000, he and his son started a video production company in Atlanta Georgia and at the same time started World Leadership Institute. The video production company became one of the best family video production companies in Atlanta receiving an award each year for the Best of Atlanta in its field. In 2003, Larry and his son James moved World Leadership Institute to Davenport Iowa. Their unique programs and products have helped business now for over eleven years! He has worked as a consultant to agencies of both the state and federal government. He was a major contributor to Linking for Learning: A New Course for Education, a project for the Congressional Office of Technical Assessment. In 1989, Mr. Patten was asked by the Soviet Government to present a paper on the use of technology in education.
