Paul practices Family Law in San Diego. He lives there with his wife and two dogs. Paul and his wife Kathleen are the proverbial empty nesters now, so their dogs enjoy an elevated status. Paul wrote this book because he saw too many long-term unhealthy relationships develop between divorce attorneys and their clients, and didn't think that a long term relationship with one's divorce attorney was a good thing. Paul says "I wrote this book so that you, the reader can avoid your divorce becoming the stuff of gossip at a cocktail party or family gathering. No one's divorce should be that interesting."
