Julie McMaine Evans is from Kentucky. This is her debut book. She learned to love unusual words from her father, a native of Appalachia, and her mother, a spelling bee champ. As a freelance writer, Julie wrote lots of words about allergies and chemical sensitivities, and Irlen syndrome (visual sensitivity to light). She, her husband, and rescue dog Winston live in Minneapolis, where their favorite word is "treats."

Lara Dombret was born and currently live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She studied Fine Arts at the National University of Art and took classes in photography and graphic design at the University of Buenos Aires. She has published artwork in magazines and children's books for many publishers around the world. She has also worked in advertising graphics, packaging design, children's TV channels, and campaigns for the Ministry of Culture. She has participated in several group exhibitions at the Buenos Aires Children's Book Fair, the Recoleta Cultural Center, and the Argentine National Library.
